This is a foul. 💯 You can’t interfere with a goal keeper who has possession of the ball let alone when he’s trying to punt. Is the logic that Guzan should follow through and risk injuring himself or Redondo? Guzan and Atlanta fleeced on this one.

@CobiFresh Thats because clubs don’t have to release players. Majority of the clubs are in preseason or in season which makes losing key players for a month and a half not realistic from the club perspective.

@Seitzy1 Agreed in a summer like this with such a heavy calendar it doesn’t make sense. But it does feel like the aura of the Olympics for football is lost when there is so much quality not in the tournament. Teams don’t even call in their best stars that are over 23

Olympics football would be so much more exciting if they scrapped the rule to only have 3 players over 23. It’s the Olympics, how can it not have the best players? It wouldn’t take away from the pedigree of the World Cup

@joedratnol @EricWynalda This is not a question of holding the older generation on a pedalstal as there are certified legends on the 98/02 teams. It’s more about the lack of flowers we give to the growing talent of this sport in our country thanks to the players on the 98/02/06 teams

@joedratnol @EricWynalda I grew up on the 98/02 teams. They paved the way for my love for the sport. Don’t get me wrong, they are all super stars! But player for player todays roster is superior.
