🌱Un novedoso desarrollo que lidera Federico Ariel, investigador del @CONICETDialoga en el @ifibyne podría revolucionar la agricultura en nuestro país y el mundo: logra que las plantas puedan defenderse solas evitando el uso de agroquímicos nocivos para la salud y el ambiente. 🪴Ariel se dedicó durante muchos años a estudiar la biología y la bioquímica del ARN en plantas, el ácido que funciona a la par del más famoso ADN. Se dio cuenta de que se podía usar ARN exógeno y rociarlo en las plantas en forma de spray para que éstas lo absorban. 🥼“Si podemos darles ARN a las plantas y éstas lo pueden leer, significa que podemos comunicarnos con ellas y brindarles información. Pero, ¿qué les decimos? Nos propusimos ofrecerles información sobre los patógenos y ver si generaban defensas. Y funcionó”, cuenta Ariel. 🔬El equipo le arrojó a las plantas secuencias de genes muy importantes del patógeno, éstas lo absorben y generan pequeños ARN que cumplen una función comparable a los anticuerpos, porque bloquean esos genes en el patógeno.
