Founders, it’s ok to roll your eyes when a VC asks “what’s your technical moat?” My take: technical moats no longer exist in software. It used to be that you could launch a product with a technically capable team and enjoy a two to three-year advantage. But now… there are better engineers than ever before, more platforms that can even the playing field, and AI that is helping everyone build quality software, fast. A differentiated product and 10x team matters, but your competitor might have these as well. The moats that make a difference now: - Your shipping velocity - Your network effects - Your GTM motion - Your community - Your brand - Your story - Your data - Your ROI - Your customer love - Your positioning. How are you different? What other moats have you seen in this era of more technical parity?

Think about it: - Meta does ~$130B in revenue. 1.1 TRILLION in market cap. That kind of scale is unfathomable (for context, its 2x revenue of Unilever, one of the physical world's 'great' companies and >100 years old) - He leads 67k employees - The man does not rest. He's in the details of the product - He does not really give a damn about 'presentation optics', the content and delivery is both great How many CEO's at this scale are going to give a detailed product demo? Having worked there, can also say that 1) he knows the product better than most CEO's and 2) has an excellent leadership team and 3) is ballsy as f*ck. He's one of the most impressive CEO's there is. I only wish there are more like him. Don't bet against Zuck!

So, Mark Zuckerberg finally tried the Apple Vision Pro and compared it to the Meta Quest 3 He says: - Quest is 7x less expensive yet way more comfortable - Quest is better for gaming, Xbox, YouTube - "I'm surprised how much better Quest is better for majority of things" My biggest takeaway: The future of ads feels like his IG post. This is real. No marketing talk, just saying it as it is. Zuck's Apple Vision Pro feels like I'm listening to a tech reviewer not a guy worth $165B. I feel like I'm having a convo in a living room with my friend Mark. You feel his enthusiasm. Reminds me of the Kayne Superbowl ad. The guy spent $7M and took a 30s selfie video. Highly effective. He sold $19M of product within 24h of that video. So my point is, if you're creating an "ad" More living room, less high budget. Be real.
