Today, under the leadership of France and Saudi Arabia, 142 countries have adopted the New York Declaration on the implementation of the Two-State Solution. Together, we are charting an irreversible path towards peace in the Middle East. France, Saudi Arabia, and all their partners will be in New York to make this peace plan a reality at the Conference on the Two-State Solution. Another future is possible. Two peoples, two States : Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security. It is up to all of us to make it happen!

I just spoke with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. I welcomed his Jeddah initiative, which enabled the start of peace negotiations in Ukraine. Regarding the Middle East, we condemn the resumption of Israeli strikes on Gaza. A return to the ceasefire is essential for the release of all hostages and the protection of civilians. I welcomed the work carried out by Saudi Arabia with its Arab partners on a credible framework for the day after in Gaza, which must serve as the basis for discussions. We will work together to reopen a much-needed political horizon. The conference on the two-state solution, which we will co-chair, must help revive a political perspective for both Israelis and Palestinians. In Syria and Lebanon, France and Saudi Arabia share the same objectives: a fully sovereign Lebanon and a united, stable Syria engaged in an inclusive transition. The strategic partnership signed during my visit to Saudi Arabia allows us to move forward together for peace and security in the region.

The resumption of Israeli strikes marks a dramatic step backward for the people of Gaza, the hostages, their families, and the entire region. No military approach will bring the security that Israelis and Palestinians so desperately need. With the King of Jordan in Paris today, we call for a cessation of hostilities, the release of hostages, and the resumption of good-faith negotiations. Peace and security for all, now!
