In this age of war our addiction to fossil fuels is destabilizing the climate, global economy & global security. Now more than ever, we must accelerate a just transition to renewable energy. Renewables deliver climate security, energy security & national security.

For decades, dependence on fossil fuels meant dependence on volatility. In past oil shocks, countries had little choice but to absorb the pain.  Now they have an exit ramp: Homegrown renewable energy has never been cheaper, more accessible, or more scalable. The resources of the clean energy era cannot be blockaded or weaponized. There are no price spikes for sunlight & no embargoes on the wind.   The fastest path to energy security, economic & national security is clear: Speed up a just transition away from fossil fuels & toward renewable energy.

It was a privilege to deliver remarks at the 11th edition of the annual Energy Summit, where I emphasized that Europe’s leadership has never been more essential.   The world is facing a decisive moment.   Europe must choose: accelerate the shift to clean, secure, homegrown energy — or remain vulnerable to crises they cannot control. Grid upgrades, affordable finance, resilient supply chains & a just transition aren’t optional. We have entered the age of clean energy. Almost everywhere around the world, renewables are now the cheapest, fastest & safest source of new electricity. Together, let’s cut emissions, strengthen energy security, power development & build lasting stability.

I recently met with leaders from across India’s renewable energy ecosystem, listening to different perspectives from industry, finance, policy & civil society. The message was clear: The clean energy future is within reach – but we need a system-wide transformation to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels.

Renewables are now the cheapest, fastest, and safest source of new electricity almost everywhere. Clean energy companies, financial institutions & industry leaders must accelerate deployment & increase investments – for a transition that is fast, fair & reaches every community.
