The @ClimateInstit recently assessed the 2025 Progress Report on the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan and found that🇨🇦 will not meet its climate targets. I asked @pierremmoreau how 🇨🇦will meet those targets & how we will build out our electricity infrastructure to reduce emissions.

As African Heritage Month comes to a close, I rose in the Senate to celebrate Black Brilliance. I read the poem "Witness for Viola Desmond", written by my friend & former parliamentary poet laureate, George Elliot Clark to mark 30 years of celebrating this important month.

Today I rose in the Senate to speak in support of Senator @daniele_henkel's Bill S-243, An Act to establish a national framework for women’s health in Canada. It is time to close the glaring gap in women's health in Canada, once and for all. youtu.be/_BpyokbkDng

Bill C-19 will help Canadians with their pocketbooks. But, the lowest income Canadians could lose out in receiving the top up payment if they don't file their taxes, & automatic tax filing wont start till next year. I asked @FP_Champagne if they can be paid retroactively.

Today I rose in the Senate to celebrate the rise and excellence of women and girls hockey in Nova Scotia and across the country. Young girls like my granddaughter Violetta are so proud to cheer and look up to Canada's Olympic Women's Hockey Team. #TeamCanada 🇨🇦

I met with Latoya Nugent this week from Rainbow Railroad Canada. They expressed their deep concerns about the impacts Bill C-12 may have on LGBTQI+ refugee claimants. It is vital that Canada remains a refuge for LGBTQI+ people facing persecution.

Last December, 2 members of @NZAB_Canada resigned due to lack of consultations from the government on key climate policies. Today I asked @pierremmoreau when the Minister will appoint new members & if they will have a clear mandate to help Canada meet its climate goals.

Today as I attend StFX Fall convocation & celebrate the graduates I am reflecting on the 14 women killed at École Polytechnique today in 1989 by a violent act of misogyny. They did not get to celebrate their graduations. We must remember them & call to end gender based violence.

The @CanadianPM confirmed that Canada will respect our Paris commitments. Yet the PBO estimates we will miss our 2030 emissions targets, & @s_guilbeault warns it will be impossible to achieve our 2030 targets. Today I asked @pierremmoreau how Canada will meet these targets.

Canadians with disabilities are waiting 3-6 months for the CRA to review their disability tax credit application, a government imposed requirement to gain access to the Canada Disability Benefit. This is unacceptable. On #IDPD2025 I asked how the government will remedy this.

As the Senate debated Bill S-2, I rose in support of the committee’s amendments that remove historic sex-discrimination in the Indian Act by removing the 2nd generation & 1985 cut off. We must act to restore equality for Indigenous generations to come. youtu.be/hl400OB7a40
