The Senate Majority Fund released the following statement last night regarding Renee Hardman’s nomination as the Democratic candidate for the SD-16 special election.

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING Democrat Catelin Drey FLIPS Iowa SD-1 — a district Trump won by 11.5 points in 2024 — defeating Republican Christopher Prosch in a landslide special election and breaking the GOP supermajority.

Got to swing by the Senator-elect Drey victory party!!! I’m so proud of Catelin. She’s done an amazing job with her campaign and I’m excited for Iowa Senate District 1 to have a great representation.
