Andrew’s Law is about making sure Illinois sends a clear message that we will stand with victims, protect children, and treat these crimes with the seriousness they deserve. #AndrewsLaw #ProtectOurKids #ILSenGOP

My heart breaks for every child who has been robbed of their safety, their innocence, and their sense of trust. That is why I filed Andrew's Law. Named after the son of a constituent, Michelle Peterson, who has turned an incredibly painful personal experience into a mission.

Illinois is already the number one producer of clean nuclear energy in the nation, & I was proud to lead the effort to finally lift our decades-long moratorium on new nuclear construction.

I welcome the Governor’s acknowledgment that nuclear energy must be part of Illinois’ future and that we need more reliable baseload generation to meet growing demand.

I was glad to join Kendall County leaders for the ribbon cutting of the renovated County Office Building & the State of the County Address. I enjoyed hearing Chairman Kellogg’s update on the County’s accomplishments over the year & its vision for the future.

Yesterday, State Senator Chris Balkema and I had the opportunity to meet with Grundy County Coroner John Callahan at the State Capitol. Coroner Callahan does an excellent job serving Grundy County, and I appreciated the chance to talk with him about the important work he does.

If Illinois is serious about lowering costs and keeping the lights on, we have to start by telling the truth about reliability and about who is being forced to pay for Springfield’s energy experiments. Reliable, around-the-clock baseload power is the foundation of an affordable energy system, but instead of prioritizing those proven solutions, the Governor's new energy law pushes Illinois even further toward expensive, short-duration technologies that simply cannot replace baseload power.

Our seniors have given so much to our communities, and no one should feel forgotten. A simple Valentine can make a meaningful difference by reminding someone that they are valued, appreciated, and cared for. This is an easy way for people of all ages to spread kindness and show appreciation for the seniors who helped build our communities.

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐳𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) issued the following statement in response to the Governor’s decision to sign the controversial energy omnibus legislation from Veto Session into law: “The Governor has signed a bill that weakens consumer protections, expands regulatory authority, and locks Illinois into costly policies. This law will fundamentally reshape how energy decisions are made in Illinois, and the consequences will be felt for years. “At a time when grid operators are warning about capacity shortages and reliability risks, this law doubles down on short-duration and unproven technologies that cannot meet peak demand. Instead of prioritizing dependable, around-the-clock power, Illinois is committing ratepayers to billions of dollars in new spending without clear safeguards or accountability. “For years, I have spearheaded efforts to lift Illinois’ nuclear construction moratorium because nuclear energy provides the reliable, carbon-free baseload power our grid desperately needs. While I am proud to see those years of hard work finally pay off, it is unfortunate that this long-overdue step was jammed into a bill containing so many other bad policy ideas that will make energy prices more expensive for hardworking Illinoisians. “This law shifts enormous financial risk onto ratepayers by removing meaningful limits on rate increases and placing more decision-making power in the hands of unelected regulators. Families and businesses will be asked to pay more, while having less transparency into how those costs are approved.” “Illinois needs an energy strategy that strengthens reliability, protects consumers, and encourages responsible investment. This law does the exact opposite, and Illinoisans will be left dealing with the fallout.”

I have sat with angel families who lost sons and daughters to fentanyl. Their pain is real and preventable. Maduro’s narco state devastated lives and strengthened drug trafficking networks. Millions of lives have been lost to drugs, and American families have been paying the price. Accountability matters.
