Colleagues from the Embassy set up a 🇩🇪 food stall, bringing a slice of #Germany to the table at *Taste the World* by IFWA— a true celebration of #CulinaryDiplomacy. From rich flavours to incredible variety, it was a beautiful reminder of how food connects cultures & people.

Labor is the force that moves a nation. This May 1st, I stand in solidarity with every worker in Pakistan. Your rights are are a fundamental necessity. We must work toward an inclusive economy where no laborer is left behind. Happy Labour Day!

Fuel crosses Rs. 399 — but this is likely not the final adjustment. Effective May 1, 2026 Petrol: Rs. 399.86 (+Rs. 6.51) Diesel: Rs. 399.58 (+Rs. 19.39) Both sitting just under Rs. 400. That number feels significant. But the math behind it tells a different story. Are prices in sync with global markets? Not yet. Brent crude touched $126 a barrel this week — nearly double January levels. Pakistan softened today's increase deliberately. Sources suggest the unfiltered adjustment could have been Rs. 40 per litre. Pakistan rarely escapes global pass-through. It delays it. What to watch next: → Strait of Hormuz — still effectively closed → Oil import bill up from $300M to $800M since the conflict began → Fiscal space to absorb further shocks — nearly exhausted → Next review: around May 9 The real risk is diesel — not petrol. Petrol hits your wallet once. Diesel moves through the entire economy: Trucks → transport costs → food prices → inflation. Every Rs. 19 increase in diesel is not a fuel story. It is a food story. A wage story. A cost-of-living story. Bottom line Today's increase looks managed — not final. If the Strait of Hormuz remains disrupted and global prices hold, Rs. 420–440 by mid-May is a realistic scenario, not a worst case. This is Pakistan's energy dependence showing up — again. And until the geopolitical fire is out, the bill keeps growing.

Today’s MoU signing bridges the gap between Pakistani potential and Chinese innovation. By focusing on ICT and modernizing the tea and mineral industries, we are creating a roadmap for economic self-reliance and job creation.
