He’s right. When Jesus wanted to commune with the Father, he sought out quiet settings. He didn’t gather everyone around for a hand clapping, foot stomping hee-haw stomp down. Silence is the language of God.

@EcciusMaximus Protestant services are loud because God is far away. Catholic masses are quiet because God is on the altar.

About 15 years ago, I wen't on my first trip to Europe.
I can still remember the plane ascending over the rolling hills of Tuscany and into the snow-capped Alps as we flew from Rome to London.
Typically, the other passengers were looking out their windows taking photographs of the beautiful natural landscape.
Meanwhile, I sat smiling and shaking my head, then whispered to myself in amazement, "I just don't understand how Hannibal got all of those war elephants over these mountains".
The Carthaginians deserved the win at Cannae.

This is what freedom actually looks like soaring above the Alps from an eagle’s POV. 🦅

Politics aside – the same Protestants who will smash statues and icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, will tell you that erecting a golden statue of a president is absolutely fine.

Nothing says ‘soli Deo gloria’ quite like Protestants dedicating a gold statue at Mar-a-Lago.

I often worry that I don't love God enough. That I'm just going through the motions and trying to get by. I feel like I avoid certain things out of fear of hell, instead of love of God. I wish that wasn't so. To me, obedience to God is loving God, regardless of what I actually wanna do. A lot of Catholics enjoy going to Mass, whereas for me, it's a struggle due to intrusive thoughts and it's a chore. I know that most of this is likely scrupulosity but that doesn't make it any easier. St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Alphonsus Liguori, and St. Ignatius of Loyola all dealt with this constant mental torment and persistent worry. I'm tired.
