We’ll mark that milestone by honoring the courage and sacrifice of 9/11 rescue, recovery, and relief workers; remember those who have died due to 9/11-related illnesses and injuries; and recognize the resilient spirit of survivors and the lower Manhattan community in a special commemorative ceremony. National Police Week honors the law enforcement officers who ran toward the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Their courage in the face of the unthinkable saved lives and held the line when it mattered most. We remember them this week and every week.

During #NationalEMSWeek, we honor the courage, skill, and sacrifice of Emergency Medical Services professionals who serve on the front lines of crisis every day. At the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, we also remember the seven EMS members who lost their lives responding to the 9/11 attacks. They were among the first to answer the call, racing towards danger without hesitation to save others. Their bravery reflects the highest ideals of the EMS profession—service, compassion, and resilience in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We honor not only their memory, but the continuing legacy of all EMS personnel who carry forward their commitment every day.

Last week the VCF joined @NYSWorkersComp and the @911HealthLI / @WTCHealthPrgm at the West Islip Fire House to share 9/11 assistance resources with volunteer firefighters on Long Island. Eligible individuals should visit VCF.gov to learn more and register.

FBI New York honors Special Agent Paul Wilson who responded to the United Airlines Flight 93 crash sites following the attacks on September 11, 2001. He died on February 25, 2007, from an illness attributed to his work. Read more at: ow.ly/k1c150Y7PMu
