@chadfelixg We actually bought that fifteen years ago, but you couldn't help yourselves. You called us evil long enough that we started paying attention and realized all your accusations are projections

I am a race neutral advocate. I don't recognize the idea of 'race,' at all. We are human. Racial categories are meaningless and archaic. I am a strict individualist. You are an individual. I am an individual. Culture, ethnicity, community... that matters. Race doesn't exist.

The DOJ has ONE WEEK left to charge Anthony Fauci for the worst cover-up in modern medical history. He lied to Congress about funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan. Millions died. Trillions were spent. And Fauci walked away with book deals and fawning media coverage instead of handcuffs. I re-upped my criminal referral to the DOJ because the evidence is overwhelming, and justice has been delayed long enough. RT if you’re ready to see Fauci behind bars.

This is something that the original trilogy did much better, largely by ditching the alternative diction when it doesn't sound good.

But Rey's experience would then just mirror Luke's experience of disappointment when he first met Yoda. Again, I feel like people are missing my only point, which is there was nothing fundamentally un-Star Wars *about this one scene in isolation.* Looking back now, of course we all can recognize this was the beginning of the decline, but that's in retrospect.

@SerfdomEnjoyer @PaulAnleitner Whose perspective were we experiencing? I argue it was Rey's. Therefore the scene would not carry all of that. She thought she was gonna be taken in, we thought she was gonna be taught by the greatest, only for him to scoff. Why? All of what you said was true, but she didnt know

This moment in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) was when I knew the postmodern deconstruction of our culture was reaching its apex. It’s hard to believe now that this was a real scene.

If you are saying that at this moment, in the theater, you knew how insidious the deconstruction was going to be, I'm calling bullshit. No true fan objected to this in the moment. We were all waiting to learn what it was that could have possibly made Luke withdraw into solitude. There *could* have been a good answer, and we were all eager to learn it. There were two moments in the Last Jedi that let us know that the story was in the hands of someone who fundamentally didn't understand it (or perhaps actually hated it): The idea that Luke Skywalker would give in to despair in the face of a fear much smaller than many he had already conquered, and the "Holdo maneuver". These are the fundamentally canon-breaking sins of The Last Jedi. The scene of Luke tossing the lightsaber, while you may not have liked the tone, and looking back knowing what you know by the end of the movie was certainly a sign of things to come, was not inherently at odds with any number of potentially good storylines that could have fundamentally respected the characters and the mythos. (I've found this take has been a daunting test of some people's reading comprehension. If you want to respond "nuh-uh, Last Jedi was bad and Rian Johnson sucks," please read again.)

By projecting his essence to Crait instead of going there physically and thus not harming Kylo Ren, Luke utilized Yoda's teachings: "A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack." This is Jedi Master Luke Skywalker at the peak of his powers.

You don't think it's reasonable to suspect that after his self-described failure against Palpatine and self-imposed exile, he might have also tossed his lightsaber? I'm not saying he did or didn't, but it wouldn't be surprising. (Also, I'm not arguing about Johnson, i agree he sucks)

@SerfdomEnjoyer @PaulAnleitner No way Yoda would throw light sabre away. He would maybe say "Uh, sabres of light. Sound funny they do. Mysterious too." Because Yoda was pretending not to be jedi master and stupid in ESB, but Ruin Johnson made Luke stupid for real.

@the_swap_shop1 @PaulAnleitner Doing everything he could to hide his status as a Jedi Master? I'm not saying he did, but in fact, with the evidence given to us in the movie there's no reason to suspect he *didn't* dispose of his lightsaber.

I'm not talking about philosophical insight derived from the story that you could apply in real life. I'm talking about insight into how Luke, as a Jedi, was evaluating the situation. I meant that there could have been a satisfying, in universe rationale for that scene. For example, some of the later EU books gave a great rationale for why Luke, though he was incredibly overpowered, couldn't just show up and whoop Jacen. He could see possible futures, and every one where he faced Jacen (and inevitably won) led to even worse outcomes. So there was a well thought out, well justified reason that Luke had to stay out of the way of the main events of the story.

@SerfdomEnjoyer @PaulAnleitner Star wars does not have a philosophy in the proper term. Its a mish mash of ancient eastern and western ideals. So star wars isnt gonna give you philosophical insight, the books and philophies it drew from will. Wtf.

@joejfamous @PaulAnleitner I completely agree that was the beginning of the end. What I'm saying is that there were many *potential* storylines that could have justified that moment. Rian Johnson just wasn't interested in coming up with any because all he cares about is "subverting expectations"
