Food prices will go through the roof. Farmers will go bankrupt. If farmers reflected the true environmental and health cost in the products they sell or on their P&L, one of those two things would happen. That's because the food system generates US$ 12.7 trillion in costs every year - more than it generates in sales. We can look for blame if we want. Farmers, ag companies, retailers, lobbyists, politicians: they all have a part to play.
