@joshjeje2 Nope! That's an exaggeration! They gave opportunity to the contenders to be heard. That's not all of Uganda
English

@BOU_Official Isn't sovereign so it shouldn't even attempt to be. We can't have inflows that respect our Sovereignty? I think we can. The degree of this war is the more reason to have this bill!
English

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

English

@sanyukatv That means all of them are not compliant and in some way undermine our Sovereignty. But what you're saying is simply rhetoric! This country will move with NGOs ready to comply (those will always be there)
English

Hon. Abubaker Kawalya. No NGO will be able to operate in Uganda once the Sovereignty Bill is passed into law.

A NATIONAL DECREE OF RENEWAL AND UNITY
From this day forward 23/ 04/2026, let it be known across our beloved nation that the language of division must give way to the language of purpose.
No longer shall any individual or group refer to themselves as “the opposition.” That title, rooted in resistance alone, is hereby abolished. In its place, we rise with a new identity " Alternative Givers to Government " citizens and leaders who do not merely oppose, but who offer vision, solutions, and a path forward for Uganda.
Furthermore, in the spirit of unity and national coherence, English is hereby affirmed as the official language for all public discourse on social media platforms, a common ground upon which every Ugandan voice may be heard, understood, and respected in our debates on matters of national importance regardless of their ethnicity.
Let this also be declared without ambiguity: Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, is no longer recognized as the Leader of the Opposition under this new order. He is at liberty to step away and need not return, for a new chapter has begun.
As of today, I step forward to take responsibility not as a voice of resistance, but as a bearer of alternatives, a unifier, and a servant of the people. The mantle is assumed, the mission is clear, and the future calls.
Let this decree echo in every corner of Uganda:
We are not against government, we are for a better nation.
So declared. So it shall stand.
kiyamba mmwe..

@KwikirizaNova Go ahead with the talk; even heaven had some dissenting voices of Satan and His Angels against the Throne of God!

I've met tall people before, but Alan @kasujja is on another level 😄.
The new Executive Director of @UgandaMediaCent paid a courtesy visit to the #NextMediaPark this afternoon, and I was glad to host him.
As he takes on the work of shaping and safeguarding Uganda's media landscape, he has our full commitment.
Walk tall, Alan.

ADVISE TO ASPIRING LEADERS:
Instead of fleeing the country and peddling old narratives, focus on presenting a new vision. Outdated playbooks and divisive rhetoric won't get you to power. Uganda needs fresh ideas not tribalism or radicalism. Show respect for the elders and the nation's diversity. Focus on reforms and tangible benefits for all citizens. Address the concerns of your team and demonstrate leadership by promoting unity. Maybe then, Ugandans will trust you next time.
Yeah reading history books is cool , but don’t mistake it for a blueprint. Blessed Sunday

I thank Their Excellencies, the Heads of State of the East African Community, for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Chairperson of the EAC Summit for the next year.
Africa must avoid what I call “Okukonesa” , the mis-cooking of the African Revolution. Historically, our weaknesses of disunity, poor leadership and failure to adopt science allowed the continent to be colonised.
We achieved Uhuru (freedom). The next mission must be Umoja (unity).
Prosperity comes from production and markets. Fragmented markets keep Africa poor.
In Luganda we say: “Omuggo oguli ku mulirano tegugoba ngo.” The stick in the neighbour’s house cannot chase away the leopard.
Africa must build its own internal market through integration. The East African Community and continental integration are therefore not optional.
The mission remains: Uhuru na Umoja, Freedom and Unity.

There is a growing narrative, especially on social media, claiming that "education is not the key to success", that one must search for other “keys.” I strongly caution young people against this misguided thinking.
Education remains a key. It may not be the only key, but it is certainly a fundamental one. It opens doors to knowledge, opportunity, innovation, and responsible leadership.
Education equips individuals to make informed decisions, contribute meaningfully to society, and navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and integrity. Nothing replaces knowledge. No one should mislead you into believing otherwise.
Yes, there are a few successful individuals with limited formal education, but how many are they? They do not even constitute 1% of Uganda’s population. Exceptional cases should not be used to misguide a generation.
Sustainable success is built on knowledge, discipline, and values and education provides that foundation. I firmly debunk the narrative that education is not essential to success.

English

@PatroUganda Man when someone wants a position, they way they humble themselves? They'll even call you from the other side of the road and greet you. But once they get to power...

@ntvuganda @JuliaMuhumuza Yeah! We need to even remove those Special seats for women

@DanielLutaaya @Buzeki_Sharifah Some time they revamped Jinja, but in less than 5years, Almost all street lights along Nalifenya road are dead! The green belts on All roads are abused. Hope the City will keep that up.
Note also, If a person cleans the house but we can't stay in it, it's worthless
English

This is what we get when jobs are advertised and given to the best candidate Ono Hajat @Buzeki_Sharifah nno ayinza okutereza ekibuga mu byokusaaga.😳
Nakivubo channel is now covered up, street vendors are gone and we are planting grass and trees downtown.
She says potholes and broken drainage channels are next on her laundry list.
Employed on Merit after a rigourous and public vetting process. And the work is now showing us why she beat that long list of elite candidates to this job.

@KwikirizaNova So you don't desire power? Go take some pics with the president. Btw he has that power because we've given it to him, otherwise, if majority of the 45m UGANDANS didn't want him, he wouldn't have that influence
English

My concern in this speakership race is not even about who emerges the winner between AAA and Mao. I know for a fact that nothing fundamentally changes with either of them at the helm of that House.
My real concern is where our country is headed and how we, as citizens, seem to have quietly accepted that leadership now flows from the First Family rather than from the voters, or even from God, if one speaks biblically.
And unfortunately, this is not merely a narrative being pushed. It is increasingly becoming a reality.
The suggestion now is that if anyone desires a powerful political position, which should ordinarily be granted by the electorate, what matters TODAY is not competence, vision, or public trust, but proximity to the First Family.
Worse still, the very “leaders” who are supposed to appease voters and seek legitimacy from the people (voters) are instead seen negotiating with members of the First Family for financial backing and, in some cases, for military protection.
The comparison is no longer about who is the better leader. It is about who has more photographs with members of the First Family.
There are things we are gradually settling for as Ugandans that, sooner or later, we may deeply regret. And when that time comes, we shall look back and ask ourselves how it all happened under our watch.

English

@KwikirizaNova Attempting to outshine her master? I don't see any evidence to that. All I've seen as a person that has proven loyalty
English

As a keen observer of Ugandan politics, I am convinced that the AAA–Mao speakership race is not about parliamentary democracy or ushering in meaningful change. It is about power, who holds it, who exercises it, and who is reminded where it ultimately resides.
For the past five years, @KagutaMuseveni has watched Anita Among consolidate significant influence, perhaps more than is comfortably tolerated within the established order. Those who have worked closely with the CiC understand that political space has limits, and crossing certain lines often comes at a cost.
After all her political maneuvering, she may have expected to return unopposed. Instead, the race is meant to send a message that authority flows from one centre, and no office bearer is bigger than that structure.
It may well be a tight race and she could still emerge victorious. But regardless of the outcome, the underlying message would already have been delivered.
The simple message is “tone down. No one is indispensable. In a system built on hierarchy, attempting to outshine the master is rarely without consequence”.

@NamuganzaPersis @FrankMutamba1 @GovUganda @RebeccaKadagaUG @StateHouseUg @Parliament_Ug @mkainerugaba @KagutaMuseveni @NRMOnline @nbstv @newvisionwire Anita has been the worst speaker uganda has ever had! Wish you all the best
English

@NamuganzaPersis @GovUganda @RebeccaKadagaUG @StateHouseUg @Parliament_Ug @mkainerugaba @KagutaMuseveni @NRMOnline @nbstv @newvisionwire This has an implication that there's an erosion of dignity in the current leadership, is that right?
