@Concern70732755 Yes to Pride but no to BLM? I'm open to being convinced, but the difference I see is that BLM is an organization with radical views many are unaware of... I see Pride flag as just representing respect for people regardless of sexual/gender identity.

@_MarkSutcliffe Not that it's a substitute for shelters, but it would help if you just adopted the recommendations to facilitate more housing construction, e.g. multiplexes.

Ottawa has always been a compassionate and welcoming place. People come to this city because we are a community where everyone looks after each other, especially the most vulnerable. As winter approaches, we need to make sure everyone has a warm place to stay. Today, along with Councillor Dudas, we have put together an Emergency Shelter Crisis Taskforce to urgently address this crisis. Thank you Councillors @PlanteSteph613, @AVmartycarr, @ArielTroster and Councillor Hubley, and for joining the Taskforce.

Well it looks like some Canadian Public Servants will be getting laid off... will it be the ones whose roles are least needed?
No, it will mostly be the ones with the least union negotiated privilege (basically time on the job). ottawacitizen.com/news/national/…

Despite the problems above, good info is sometimes revealed through #ATIP requests. People don't always want to cover-up, and it's not always easy to pull it off.
Go ahead and request some info from @Canada here: canada.ca/en/shared-serv… 9/
English

The #ATIP office, and other Public Servants, will be evaluated on whether they complied with the info request quickly enough, but they don't know if information is suppressed.
They probably don't want to notice cover-ups, because it creates work for them and has no reward. 8/
English

Public Servants are often encouraged to delete emails or documents before #ATIP info requests are made.
Delete it so you can say - "I got nothing on that."
Delete it to avoid admitting government mistakes or wrongdoing that citizens have a legal right to know about. 1/

Who should I follow for info on #WhistleBlower
#transparency in #Canada government?

Deleting emails to hide them from Access to Information #ATIP requests is probably illegal, but #CanadianPublicServants do it constantly, even people you might think are "good guys." The system is broken and I don't know the fix but @robyndoolittle @tom_cardoso are... 🧵

@1979HAB I'm anonymous because I agree that people are being bullied into silence on certain topics.
We may disagree about many things, but let us do so freely and respectfully. Believe in the power of honest, thoughtful communication.
English

Any other anonymous public servants out here?
#Canada needs to hear a diversity of of opinions.

@JustinPicheh @fordnation @Sflecce @_MarkSutcliffe If group X does bad things, by all means let's try to fix that problem. We won't always be able to spare every member's feelings while addressing serious problems.
But this is gratuitous othering.
English

@JustinPicheh @fordnation @Sflecce @_MarkSutcliffe Member of group X is charged with doing something terrible.
Conclusion: let's stigmatize all members of group X?
English

@GooseStoned One necessary part of reducing fear of people in police uniforms is to create positive experiences with people in police uniforms.
Of course reducing negative experiences is also extremely important but that doesn't require banning police in uniform from schools.
English

@ServantCanadian Fuck that. They can go talk to kids in a golf shirt and jeans. No need to create fear in the minds of 7-year olds.
English

If you want to improve relationships between police and public, you need to create positive interactions between the groups.
Banning guns in school is fine, but banning police in uniforms is crazy... the uniform is an important part of how we recognize and relate to police.

It’s heartbreaking that the school board has chosen to decide who can and cannot being their parent to school. Our school boards need to do better and promote inclusiveness and educate and not divide. @OPApresident
