@defi411 @jpgstoreNFT Wtf. I didn’t even know they were shutting down. I’m always wondering why everyone is shutting down so quickly. Keeping a few servers running costs next to nothing

@salty_grndpa Depends on how good it is. If it works reliably businesses will adopt it very quickly if allows them to avoid the Visa tax

I always tell visitors that Hobbs House Sherston is the best white bread they'll ever try. Now I've been vindicated: British Baker picked it as the best white loaf in Britain. It actually is the best!

@braelyn_ai I think good taste originates from the lack of strong influences: Original creativity over assimilation. You can do this by working 996 but only on your own stuff

@seloesque Don’t waste your time getting a job. Work on stuff you own. A job carries a huge risk for lazy complacency.

@paulg True, but its is really a global problem. Young ppl living in appartments is stifling innovation. It severely limits the scope of possible things to try and tinker with.

@levelsio Back at university I build myself a window opening contraption using an esp32, a servo and an Awair Element. It worked quite well, but active ventilation is easier to control

I still haven't solved the CO2 bedroom challenge You open the window and you wake up from a 6am garbage truck or barking dogs and sunlight You close it, you suffocate in 1200 ppl at 5am I guess you really need some mini tube in your wall with a vent that opens and closed based on internal CO2 but how do I build that?

@kuberdenis Using LLMs for devops is reckless imho. A minor error can become very expensive or even put your entire project at risk. You wouldn’t trust a junior dev to do this, why would you give a probabilistic next-token generator admin credentials 💀

if this actually works i think we can all agree to collectively give up and start a new community in the woods somewhere without technology or anything related to ai whatsoever

@reallehnert @marcba I’m too cheap to pay $30 for bad internet on each flight. I’m flying to Japan tomorrow, it will be a fun 13h without Claude assistance😅

@ServerSock @marcba Fair point on offline and Xcode; that’s a valid edge case. But for most developers who are not working on iOS/macos stuff, there’s no reason to overload your main machine. SSH works well on a plane with a local jump host.

@reallehnert @marcba Oh I have a self-hosted Gitlab on a devops cluster with 300gb+ of RAM. I still like to be able to run everything locally though. It is faster for debugging and easier for anything involving Xcode. I also like to work on planes, trains or other remote places with bad cell service

@ServerSock @marcba The entire setup cost me less than $1,200. Could I buy a high-end MacBook Pro or Mac Studio? Sure. Do I need it? Not at all.

@reallehnert @marcba Local servers and databases for dev and test environments for 2-3 repos, some small language models that my product is using. 3-4 Claude Code sessions, etc. It adds up quickly, being a browser tab monster doesn’t help. I run into memory pressure issues daily.
