Had the absolutely pleasure of joining a young man as he took his first step towards high tech AAC today! Thank you @ThinkSmartbox. 18 years old, non-speaking ASD and I have a good feeling about his future as an AAC user ⭐️

Delighted with my mail today. My NTMC certification pin arrived! Thank you @CTC_NTMC I feel very grateful and privileged to have completed this qualification and now able to offer local babies this highly evidenced based intervention to promote both infant and parental outcomes

@EmilioLees Have you considered something like baby massage or baby yoga? I enjoyed these with my little people and found them calm and connecting as by nature of the techniques being taught, the classes were organised well.

Since becoming a parent I'm met with the same ableism I see in schools for #autistic kids. E.g. I tell the professional I want to attend baby groups to meet other parents, but worried about sensory overload. Their answer: "what about 1-1 sessions with a worker"..sigh

@JillBrennanSLT And an important reminder why diagnostic assessment should be ND focused before clinical evidence reveals which (if any) are relevant. A child is statistically more likely to have FAS than ASD but we don’t get asked to do many FAS assessments 🤔
