This is brilliant. I love this focus on those who earn more than we could dream of in a lifetime, whilst they sleep. It is exactly who is causing inequality in our society, both economic and social. The Green Party wants to fix what actually needs to be fixed, why not join?

@Ryans_burner @georgebwtowl The full picture is the country was against invading Iraq, there was already proof that GCHQ and the CIA were trying to coerce UNSC members into voting for the war and that is was illegal. He voted for it anyway. If he apologies for it, great. That doesn't excuse him.

@SethAHpoli @georgebwtowl but this type of criticism is lacking nuance. It's dogmatic and doesn't take in the full picture or give any grace for past mistakes people admit to and take on board in their future decisions. It makes everything a non-starters and is why Your Party aren't getting any traction.

@Ryans_burner @georgebwtowl He fucking supported his special advisor when she was appointed director! LFI, this whole time, was to lobby MP support for Israel, a known apartheid state committing regular atrocities against civilians. Have some fucking standards here come on

@SethAHpoli @georgebwtowl As for joining LFI, read the article. He stood up to them and that, along with other positions, ended up with him being pushed out of Government.

@Ryans_burner @georgebwtowl We are supposed to give grace to MPs who voted along party lines for an illegal war that destroyed a nation and destabilised a region? You are awfully forgiving of politicians and your standards are far too low. They knew what they were voting for and he did it anyway.

@Ryans_burner @georgebwtowl Yeah and I appreciate that but trying to frame criticisms of those previous decisions as lacking nuance is disingenious. He wasn't an uninformed child. He was an informed adult who voted for an illegal war that killed countless civilians. Then he joined LFI!

@SethAHpoli @georgebwtowl Yes, and he's been saying for years how he regrets his vote and famously spoke out against similar action in Syria etc. Please read the article. He's someone who's changed over time and has actively challenged leadership on these things, which cost him a lot in his career.

@Ryans_burner @georgebwtowl Andy Burnham supported the invasion of Iraq and against investigations into it. Tens of thousands of Iraqi kids were killed.

Analysis of Green Party leaflets since ex-Libdem Polanski became leader showed across 40+ pages & 10k words: 🤔 1 mention of ‘climate change’. 🤔 1 mention of ‘nature’. 🤔 0 mentions of ‘net zero’. Stop telling me this guy is an environmentalist and a socialist. He isn’t.
Jon Burke 🌍@jonburkeUK

So, the same Zack Polanski who falsely claimed hypnosis increases breast size, falsely claimed he was a Red Cross ‘spokesperson’, & failed to pay council tax has now admitted he didn’t vote despite claiming otherwise? If you’re still defending this guy, give your head a wobble.

Andy Burnham voted for the Iraq War, an illegal war that killed over a million people. As Health Secretary, he helped drive NHS privatisation. He joined Labour Friends of Israel, opposed BDS as “spiteful”, praised Israel as a “democracy”, and called the Balfour Declaration “British values in action”. He is a Zionist. Stop pretending he’s a radical alternative, he’s more of the same.

I can confirm that I will be requesting the permission of the NEC to stand in the Makerfield by-election. I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics. Ten years ago, I decided to leave Westminster. Why? Because, after 16 years, I came to the conclusion that our national political system does not work for areas like ours. I learnt this fighting its failure to invest in the Wigan borough, for justice for the Hillsborough families and against its treatment of Greater Manchester during the pandemic. Over the last decade, I have been challenging this failure from the outside and building a new and better way of doing politics. We have built Greater Manchester into the fastest-growing city-region in the UK and put buses back under public control, introducing a £2 fare cap to help people with cost-of-living pressures. However, there is only so much that can be done from Greater Manchester. Much bigger change is needed at a national level if everyday life is to be made more affordable again. This is why I now seek people’s support to return to Parliament: to bring the change we have brought to Greater Manchester to the whole of the UK and make politics work properly for people. Millions are struggling and they need the Labour Government to succeed. It has already made changes to make life better for them in its first two years. After this week, we owe it to people to come back together as a Labour movement, giving the Prime Minister and the Government the space and stability they need as the by-election takes place. I want to recognise the difficult decision taken by Josh Simons and the sacrifice he and his family are making. I have worked closely with him as Mayor on issues like flooding and illegal waste dumping and have seen first-hand how effective he has been. He has put the communities of Makerfield first, made a real difference for them and should take great pride in that. Finally, I truly do not take a single vote for granted and will work hard to regain the trust of people in the Makerfield constituency, many of whom have long supported our party but lost faith in recent times. We will change Labour for the better and make it a party you can believe in again. ENDS

@ADZanderWest @breadandposes You have to be deliberately obstinate to not see that it is a clear indicator of public sentiment. People didn't vote out their Labour councillors because they were all shit. Come on.

Zohran Mamdani has announced a balanced budget for New York City. The mayor says there will be no cuts to city services. Instead, with another $4 billion from the state and a new tax on the rich, Zohran and his administration have closed what was a $12 billion budget gap.

@Napru71 @SSi_ero @ShitpostGate He was not popular enough that *90%* of the country would vote to effectively erode their remaining democratic freedoms just a month after Hitler murdered dozens of opposition leaders. Like seriously, pull yourself together lmao????

@Napru71 @SSi_ero @ShitpostGate Still genuinely hilarious that you can look at a 90% win in a referendum after Hitler's goons went and slaughtered a bunch of political opposition and was obviously making a power grab and saying "we don't know if it was fair" lol??? "It's irrelevant if they rigged it" lol

@SethAHpoli @SSi_ero @ShitpostGate I don’t have reason to believe the result of the election would be much different whether they manipulated it or not that’s MY whole point. It is irrelevant if they rigged it because he had the public favor. We don’t know whether it was fair or not so the discussion is meaningless

@Napru71 @SSi_ero @ShitpostGate It is absolutely relevant if he rigged it lol what are you talking about. Why go through the effort of rigging it if you know you'll win. They literally went on a murder rampage a montu before, this is delusional! Winning 90% of the vote is an absurd thing to suggest
