...I talked to analytics folks from multiple teams who -- again, prior to his double-digit sack season -- said oh no, we're seeing the exact same thing you are. Was cool and affirming (as was his 10.0 sack season, eventually) to hear and gave me confidence in what we had.

@Jason_OTC Model was way off on Malik Willis but I can live with that -- probably one of the hardest situations to predict. Only missed by a couple million on Linderbaum, which I feel great about considering historic nature of his contract!

with all due respect. Giving HOU an A and bashing Howard to the Browns for swapping Howard for Smith and only citing block rates is kind of nuts. I know u touched on it but Smith has missed at least 4 gms in 3 straight seasons and 4 of the last 5 yrs. All the while with median to below median block/pressure rates. I mean Smith was cheaper for a reason

Majority of the time "market-setting" contracts are not actually. It's just reflective of cap inflation. But this contract VERY MUCH is. If we put past contracts into 2026 dollars, previous high at C since 2011 was Ragnow in 2021 at $22.3M APY per OTC. Linderbaum got $27M.

ESPN Sources: former Ravens free-agent center Tyler Linderbaum reached agreement today on a record deal with the Raiders, who are awarding him with a three-year, $81 million deal that includes $60 million guaranteed and makes him the highest paid interior offensive lineman in NFL history.

The fully guaranteed at signing number will matter even more for the Malik Willis than for most signings. If he fails, it's what the Dolphins will pay. If he succeeds, they'll have to give him a new contract anyway.
