Our latest release is live! 📊🧑🏻‍💻 We use novel methods to identify sensory impaired individuals to reveal an unexplained underlying elevated risk of mortality to #COVID19 that is unevenly experienced across age groups. 🦠👴🏻🦮🦻 Academic paper to follow in The Lancet 👨‍🏫
Office for National Statistics (ONS)@ONS

For the first time, we've published estimates of deaths involving #COVID19 for people with a hearing, vision or dual-sensory impairment as identified in hospital records in England. ➡️ ow.ly/wQqr50LHMOv

Please RT. PhD students funded by @UKRI_News face a cash crisis. They are working full-time, yet earning less than living wage. With the rising cost of living and increasing pressure to deliver high quality research that benefits society, something needs to change. THREAD (1/10)

America has gone from a country I revered to a country I revile. As an individual who has benefited from the precedent of #RoeVsWade, I can only hope the emboldening of anti-abortion activism does not reach our shores.

A year’s research has gone live today! This was a really challenging and rewarding project to lead and lays a foundation for higher resolution insights in to the impacts of #COVID across the #disability spectrum.

No single factor explains this elevated risk and our release suggests it is down to a range of disadvantages experienced by disabled people.

Using proportional hazards modelling - after accounting for age, residence type, geography, socio-economic and demographic factors, health characteristics and vaccination status; a significantly greater risk of death remains for all disabled people relative to non disabled people
