Spring is in the air as Lumila watches the sun rise. Backgrounds remain a serious sore spot and I hesitate to call it great but I am largely satisfied with it. It' needs to be done at some point so consider this a stepping stone.

I... have not been making as many MerMay drawings as I've been wanting to. We are only half way through the month, tho, so hopefully I can get more out than just the one each week. I've got lotsa ideas so hopefully I can make more, Merfolk are very fun to draw.

A commission for @A_Loud_Onion, who wanted me to draw an important character for his DnD backstory.

#Mermay is here, and with it, I wanted to draw Kailun as a shark. This is actually based directly on a drawing that aufurmegan did for me a couple years back!

@Glockenspielz61 @BalticSnek @HMBohemond Sounds like ludo-narrative dissonance. The story intention is fundamentally incompatible with the gameplay without making the game deliberately miserable to play.

@BalticSnek @HMBohemond If you think you’re supposed to take the satire seriously then you’re the one without a clue. The gameplay is first while the satire and lore is set dressing. They’re not expecting you to walk away with a new mindset or some shit.

Part of me is convinced Helldivers 2 is balanced around the fact they tried to make the game to "satirize fascism" but did it so poorly they made Super Earth the good guys. So they go out of their way to make you weaker and weaker out of sheer, childish spite. And every time the same thing happens. The game gets worse and they have to backtrack to save it because the players write their paychecks. Every new warbond trailer being the Helldivers dying, team killing each other and SEAF as of the latest trailer just reinforces this viewpoint.

@PerspectiveEnd I'm genuinely growing to hate the 86 movie and it isn't even that movie's fault, but the obsession both the fans and the franchise seem to have with it. I don't want to hate "One shall stand, one shall fall" but it is so overused.

I love the 86 movie. But the Fact that we are basically ignoring Beast Wars' 30th anniversary, to celebrate a film that BOMBED at the box office, and crippled the franchise for like a decade, just because we've all Stockholm syndromed our selves into loving it, is so offensive.

@rewindthatforme As someone who draws, messy detailing like that is stuff I do all the time. But for me, what’s setting off suspicion is just the style of rendering seems so reminiscent of AI, I feel bad for artists who like to render their stuff like that.

Do I think it's a problem to remove player expression: yes. Is it game breaking: no.
