@snacklesbian Find out your last frost. Most stuff can be direct sown around then. Or seedling can go in. Thats my date I keep in my calendar to plant around.

Hydroponics and Aquaponics. Closed systems where you introduce the nutrients the plants need via water, can reduce soil use to 0 and can grow plenty of food with reduced land usage. Power requirements go up only as grow lights are added. The water system can be made analog.

However, many American farmers do not feed the American people. They grow government-subsidized corn and soy & simultaneously enjoy tax exemptions for agriculture on the land they hoard for generational wealth building. About 55% of American-consumed produce is imported.

Produce is produced by farmers or, more accurately, farm workers. The sickle is half of communism for a reason. Begging Americans to understand that free the land, feed the people is not a slogan, it's our only option.

@StinkRatsCharms There's a meat packing strike rn and I'm struggling to get my friends to care. Meanwhile everyone is lonely and food is getting more expensive and farming solo is not sustainable. And I'm just like...... let's get everyone on the same page here

@SettleIt Oh absolutely agree its every part of food production/distribution that gets looked down upon. I live in an ag town that also has a food packaging plant, and every one of those folks is underpaid and underappreciated

@StinkRatsCharms It's the whole food supply chain that gets looked down on until they're "essential" for five minutes. But yeah I just wish the left was making the connections between labor and food

@SettleIt I come from a family of farmers. This is just a comment on how grocery store workers and restaurant workers are looked down on in the US (other occupations are too! Unfortunately I cannot fit every looked down upon profession into one tweet so I picked two)
