Someone driving an SUV hit 7 cyclists out on a morning ride near Delray Beach, FL yesterday. News reports indicate that one rider has died and at least two others are in critical condition. For US riders, this sort of incident is like school shootings. Mind-numblingly common.

@Snial @RichardWellings Where’s the restriction? All a 15 minute city means is everything you need is within 15 minutes of where you live. What’s restricting about that? Why drive 45 minutes to the retail outlet if you can walk or cycle or take a cab (cheaper than running a car) to get your shopping etc

The underlying rationale for 15 min cities & EVs is to reduce pollution & emissions; not to remove cars per-se.

The infrastructure for a mass shift to electric cars isn't being installed for a reason. Their real goal is a big reduction in the public's mobility, with car ownership restricted to the wealthy and well-connected; everyone else stuck in 15-minute cities. telegraph.co.uk/business/2023/…

@WilliamNB Perfect example @StaffsPolice 3 submissions in 2 I was told exactly what: 1 Driver improvement course 2 Advisory Letter 3 NIP or DIC or warning letter but not which. 2 different officers reviewed the videos. In 3 said Data Protection Act prevented from saying anything else 🤷‍♂️

Working on a talk about cycling & public health. Cyclists out there -> what do you see as the major gaps in making cycling feel safe & accessible to you? That are fixable by councils & govt? (ie not cold and dark weather bc that's just life in Scotland)

@Sevenfold1 @MPSSpecials Whenever we mention about the 100s of cars that drove past and didn't hit the police car, because they noticed it in the bright colours, we always get shouted down! Surely you'd want to make yourself visible to drivers?

The same child is in both photos. The only difference is how they're dressed As we approach shorter daylight hours, whether you walk, cycle, use public transport or drive, make sure you can be seen This applies to all ages, its not just children that can't be seen #BeSafeBeSeen

@QuinlanQuinlan @magnatom @sculldoggydog No I’ll engage. Even though English doesn’t seem to be your first language. Every cyclist involved in the death of a pedestrian has been traced. Even with number plates, not every driver involved in a hit & run is found. Does that simplify it for you?
