@lordcudjoe You can only get the understanding of what's baffling your whole mind, if you go back to the school and complete the PhD programme. You're even lucky you've been able to identify somebody in Ghana who completed their PhD in the same school to guide you.........

I wonder why people are so fixated on advanced degrees, especially PhDs leading so many to acquiring questionable degrees. Now, I have to say, I don't have a PhD, even though I got into one in one of UK's prestigious private universities on a part-time basis with an undergraduate degree and with a generous scholarship ( I didn't conclude due to demands of work and other pressures and ultimately put it on hold.l don't intend going on with it, but you never know.
Now having said that it does not mean all who have PhDs are usually the smartest or insulated from saying stupid things such as the IMF projected a particular growth rate two years ago and when that came to pass, it shouldn't be credited to the shepherding actions of capable heads and hands of a government. They could simply have chosen to do damage by say appointing 126 ministers to ruin the economy.
So you see, if a PhD holder apparently competent in his area of expertise, economics that is, says what l alluded to above, should we not be worried about his credentials?
Well, the gentleman in question lists one of achievements to have advised Dr.Bawumia on economic thinking. How did that end up? Curiously though, both the gentleman, Dr. Bawumia and moi, went to the same private University. 😆😆

I have a Ph.D. (in "economics"). I can honestly say that the time I spent writing my thesis (using "optimum control theory" and a "dynamic optimization model" to understand "Ghana under Nkrumah" no less!) was time wasted in my growth as an economist. I became a better economist, I believe, when I finally realized (through teaching and policy work) that "economics" is a social science and is better understood through the political economy angle rather than by using sophisticated "quantitative methods".
Since then, I have come to be increasingly unconvinced by the crop of economics Ph.D.s being churned out by our universities (great statisticians and artificial model builders adept at making "projections" but definitely not economists). Why are you surprised, therefore, that they live and die with "IMF projections"?
The advise I used to give my students was: please try to complete your Ph.D. because it is a "union card". I would give you the same advice. However always remember, as my Indian childhood friend used to remind me, B.S. stands for Bull Sh*t. M.S. stands for More Sh*t. While Ph.D. stands for "Piled high and Deep"

@Aliceosei0617 @GhanaCrimes I guess you insulted your mother in the house more than this, before coming out to insult someone's mother. Either way, this woman is not my relative, I hardly know her. But fact is she would be better than your mother.......
