🔴The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced that the death sentence of Ehsan Afreshteh, a civil engineering graduate and IT/network specialist, was carried out at dawn. Mr. Afreshteh had previously been sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, on charges of "espionage for Israel." 🔸According to allegations made by the Judiciary, #EhsanAfreshteh allegedly established contact with Mossad agents in Turkey, where he received security and intelligence training. It is claimed that in exchange for payment, he provided Israel with information regarding the personnel, organizational structure, and projects of a company affiliated with military institutions. Furthermore, the authorities claimed he received training in secure communication, encryption, and intelligence gathering during a trip to Nepal. 🔸In contrast, the human rights organization HRANA had previously reported that after months of being held in solitary confinement, Mr. Afreshteh was transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison. Following tensions in Ward 7, he was moved to the high-security Ward 241, which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Intelligence. An informed source told HRANA that forced confessions were recorded from him and that he denied all charges. Reports also surfaced regarding the seizure of some of his and his family's assets, as well as pressure exerted on his relatives. 🔸Ehsan Afreshteh, born in 1993 and a native of Isfahan, was arrested in early 2024 upon his return from Turkey. The Judiciary has not specified the location where the execution took place. Since the start of recent military conflicts, the process of issuing and carrying out death sentences in political and security-related cases has intensified, with at least 31 prisoners executed under such charges to date.
