Reminder that Frontiers is the highest selling 3D Sonic games and most of the 20 year old games have come nowhere close to that level of success. Yes there's a reason they would do this over porting something like Black Knight that barely even hit 1 million.

@RehaanSiddiqie @AlbarnsDemon Unleashed, as much as it is my favourite game, has the issue of addressing issues to be positively received to large audiences The Werehog needs altering a fair amount for that. The medals can be easy as making them unlock only DLC in a complete edition

@FreakEco I don't like it either, it looks off almost uncanny. It's not got a clear art direction that synergises with the animation to me. Like those UE5 meme things. I would personally like something more cel shaded in approach for Jak 1. Then you go more gritty 3D realism onwards

@Proto_arts I don’t actually think the next mainline game was delayed. Plus they tend to plan projects as a roadmap nowadays even smaller ones like Casefiles for 35th had 2 years on it. Shadow Gens for Sonic 3 type deal It screams to me like a hey play this to prepare for sequel

@Sonicenthusiest I think it'll be on Switch 2 but I don't think it is a Switch 2 port. SEGA hasn't done this for Switch 2 games I think it's like an overall upgrade to tide over to 2027. Doubt they had time to do another remaster like Sonic Gens due to full focus on 2027 Sonic game

@Salty_Sealz Yea it doesn't add up. The idea of just doing it for DLC applied to the disc itself is pretty much pointless cost wise. People won't pay that on other platforms because well why would you. Needs to be something extra to it because polish also wouldn't suffice

I don't wanna sound pretentious but I strongly disagree that Frontiers Definitive Edition will just be the updates built in with bug fixes and polish because then what would be the point of re-releasing it? We'll find out soon but there's something more to this.

The Frontiers definitive edition is just for the Switch 2 version. There is no point of them re-releasing the game as Iizuka has already said Sonic Teams main focus is on the future of Sonic right now.

@Ohnimus210 I actually prefer 06 but that is only and only because of enjoyment. I enjoy the jank and just getting fascinated with how this got through the door. Colours feels very stripped back so it’s a simple title that was needed but harder to come back to for me

In the time it takes Sonic 06 to load a single segment of a level, you can literally finish an entire Sonic Colors level. We are NOT doing 06 revisionism just because it had potential, nor are we downplaying another game to make 06 look better.

@AllCristina2 Idk. Since equally it’d be ignored and the game needs the focus for long term stability. They should’ve had the game released to hit from the ground running. I also think this is the best way to announce it because teasers and such make it more annoying
