Because killing kids & animals in video games is hilarious. It is genuinely fucking hilarious. It’s so far removed from my real world stances on animal abuse & human murder that it moves beyond shocking & into the realm of the absurd. It’s why I & many others laugh manically as we massacre civilian NPCs in GTA. The shit isn’t real, & a game’s ability to completely invert our morals makes it all the funnier.

@SophiaNarwitz Back in my day we laughed at a game where you shoved your gun up a cat's ass as a silencer. A friend who was driving us back from another city recently ALMOST hit a cat with his car and I felt horrible the rest of the evening.

Video games are not desensitizing me (or **most** other people), lol. Anytime I kill an animal in a game I usually chuckle at the silliness of it, this isn't even an act, I genuinely find it funny. I'll go to absurd lengths to kill them is an many hilarious ways as possible. I've been gaming for over 30 years, & I still laugh when NPCs or animals die, yet not even 12 months ago I was a passenger in a car that accidentally hit a raccoon that had darted out of the words, and wanna know what I did? I cried. I cried like a little bitch because I felt so fucking bad that a raccoon had gotten injured. The point is, video games are not real life, and they're sure as hell not desensitizing me, or causing my real world beliefs, empathies, or values to waver. It's the same reason I laugh when gunning down civilians in GTA yet I feel deep sadness when mass shootings happen irl. That this still needs to be explained in 2026 is absurd.

Being called a ‘pick me’ over a video game is hilarious work, but that aside, I don’t think anyone can ever be more of a ‘pick-me’ than people like you. You work overtime to create an environment where women must align with all your views/beliefs lest they be derided and labeled a sexist term. They can’t even make jokes about video games without you chiming in to portray them as somehow false actors looking for a man’s approval, meanwhile you, with your mighty, better beliefs are superior. People like you try to create a system of fear. “Be like us women or you’ll be entirely disregarded”. In that sense, everything you say rings hollow. You’re a ‘pick-me’, because look how hard you try to be see as one of the good ones within your own circles. Your life is dedicated to upholding a genderized groupthink. “You must be picked by us… or shunned.” And so there you go, clapping like a seal going “pick me, pick me, pick me….” Pretty sad when you think about it.

Sidenote: These are also some of the same people who treat fictional people as real and real people as fictional and get mad at you for knowing the difference. Completely reverse view of reality. Brains aren't just cooked, they're fucking burnt to a crisp.

There really are people who are mad at a game and make lists how to boycott it which DON'T include just not fucking playing it, who then turn around to call themselves fans of games they refuse to play.
