SAA CEO STEPS DOWN South African Airways chief executive John Lamola has resigned, effective 30 April 2026, ending a four-year tenure that rebuilt the state-owned carrier after business rescue and the collapse of the Takatso Consortium deal. Transport minister Barbara Creecy accepted the resignation following a board meeting. Lamola (pictured), who took over in May 2022, expanded the fleet from five to nineteen aircraft and the route network from six to seventeen destinations, including São Paulo and Perth.
