A happy sight. A sea of blue tops canes marking puffin burrows with eggs. All 200 burrows now marked and we will discover the breeding success in july

First visit to Isle of May in 2019. Over 100 shag rings read, double number 3 weeks ago so maybe they are starting to return. @ShagMigration

No wonder it felt cold last night in the unheated bedrooms. Not often we see frozen water on the Isle of May.Was a bit nippy trying to read shag rings at dawn. @ShagMigration

Another day, another island for @LothianRG @CEHseabirds shag ringing. Inchmickery looks like a battleship from a distance and was heavily bombed in WW2. Now, seabirds nest among the buildings #seabirds

Another terrific effort by the team again today on Inchkeith, our target species today was Kittiwake 84 new today plus 12 re-traps! Although our attentions did divert a little as @LimpetLaura hasn’t ringed enough #shags this season so far! Keep an eye out for them @ShagMigration
