Thorney saw Britain’s biggest heist - in 1303 by the monks of the Abbey-(all were arrested) and a school for pickpockets that inspired Fagin’s Den. It was the site of the palace of King Canute, whose father Sven Forkbeard, ruled England for 5 weeks (less than Liz Truss!)Read on!
