We should be writing Sid’s adoption post this week. Instead, we share the devastating news that Sid has lost his life after escaping from a groomers 💔💔💔 We can’t quite believe we are writing that. Very quickly the wonderful expert dog capture team who help so many got busy setting up a trap and postering - we have since learned he was already gone 💔 News of his body being found on the trainline came on Weds morning. His family who only adopted him last week are in pieces. No unkind words please, they have to live with this forever now. Sid’s family wanted to give him his happy ending and in his last 3 months with them he knew a home life and so much love, we thank them for that. Sid was at the rescue for 10 months after spending such a long time in kennels before coming to us. He truly found happiness and reconnected with his inner dog - first settling in and finding his confidence with his furbrothers gang and later his special rehab journey with Maya who poured her heart into this boy. There have been many tears, everyone at the rescue is devastated, and we know many of you who followed his journey will feel the same. No one rescues dogs for these accidents to happen. We are posting this as a reminder and warning about those you entrust with the care of your dogs, they don’t always understand how much of a journey it takes to get these guys to feel safe. Sid was an incredibly brave boy who made an extraordinary transformation. Sid had a wonderful bromance with Robbie, Rico and Duke and it was a joy to watch. Seeing him blossom is something we will never forget. Dogs go missing all the time. The poor team at Greater Manchester Lost Dog Search and Capture go through this daily – they shouldn’t have too. We hope this serves as a reminder to keep dogs safe – they rely on us all for that. We will love you forever Sid 💔💔💔
