Coastal Carolina @CoastalFootball linebacker @Shane_Bruce1 made the trip to Eau Claire WI to add snapping to his resume and chase perfection!
Shane is primarily a linebacker but knows that being able to long snap will drastically increase his stock when pursuing the next level. I’ve had a good sample size of linebackers turned snapper who have had great success. Luke Rhodes, Jacob Bobenmoyer, Christian Kuntz. These guys all made the switch and have been living the dream.
Shane and I got to work on some subtle things with his grip and stance. Making sure he had rules to his snapping and didn’t just set up comfortably every rep. Comfort isn’t necessarily consistent. Consistency can build comfort but we need rules first.
We started with landmarks and awareness. Once we had that we were able to install protection footwork and efficiency in the movement. Shane caught on quickly! Typically linebackers get a little more wiggle room with their snaps than a pure snapper who’s only job is to snap. That doesn’t mean we will slack off… that means we will make sure Shane is exceeding expectations!
