A Ladakhi student sought His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's advice on how young people can best serve society. Responding to the question, His Holiness underscored the importance of cultivating compassion. He said that irrespective of one's occupation or responsibilities, a kind heart is the greatest asset a person can possess. Such an attitude, His Holiness noted, not only allows individuals to contribute positively to society but also reduces conflict and promotes understanding among people. “Whatever you do in society, the most important thing is to have a kind heart. If you have a kind heart, you can be of benefit to others. Then there won't be disagreements or fighting.
