🧡 Every Child Matters 🧡 My great-grandma spoke only Cree. As someone proud to be Métis, this day carries deep meaning. As my friend & Indigenous leader @ShaniGwin says: ➡️ Write your reps ➡️ Join protests ➡️ Donate to Indigenous orgs ➡️ Be loud Reconciliation takes all of us.

Indigenous issues often get framed through the homeless or public safety lens. But @ShaniGwin says Edmonton candidates need to address a gamut of other issues and help move past harmful stereoptypes in a city where 6% of residents are Indigenous. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/are…

Doug Griffiths from @EdmontonChamber talks about a space an Edmonton business wanted to activate as “where the unhoused gather and do bad things.” Lololol whaaaaat? Yikes! #stateofthecity y’all!

Very weird state of the city without the Mayor delivering it. I wonder when and who decided it should be given by a panel of white “city leaders…” And of course no Indigenous representation lol. Sigh. Downtown elite back at it. So far, the best speaker was Elder Morin.

@ABDanielleSmith It’s a good statement. Please do not fast track resource extraction at the expense of Indigenous Peoples and our lands.

The tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump are an unjustifiable economic attack on Canadians and Albertans. They also represent a clear breach of the trade agreement signed by this same U.S. President during his first term. These tariffs will hurt the American people, driving up costs for fuel, food, vehicles, housing, and many other products. They will also cost hundreds of thousands of American and Canadian jobs. This policy is both foolish and a failure in every regard.   This is not the way it should be between two of the world’s strongest trading allies and partners. We would much rather be working with the U.S. on mutually beneficial trade deals than be caught in the middle of a tariff war.   Alberta fully supports the Federal response announced today by the Prime Minister. I will be meeting with my Cabinet today and tomorrow to discuss Alberta’s response to these illegal tariffs, which we will announce publicly tomorrow.   Now is the time for us to unite as a province and a country. We must do everything in our collective power to immediately tear down provincial trade barriers and fast-track the construction of dozens of resource projects, from pipelines to LNG facilities to critical minerals projects. We must strengthen our trade ties throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas for all our energy, agricultural, and manufactured products. We also need to drastically increase military spending to ensure we can protect our nation. There is no time to waste on any of these initiatives.   I will have more to say tomorrow.

Danielle Smith has directly benefitted fromn DEI efforts, changes and policies. In fact, the main demographic who benefits are white women. What do we do now?

@HunterAtHome Funny they state personal safety for their privacy yet consistently post photos and videos of usually vulnerable people without their consent or permission.

YEGWAVE frequently takes content from journalists & creators & posts NO credit to those individuals. They posted about my Fillion Civilian Pavilion w/ wrong information, 0 credit to me, and it received millions of views. I had no recourse despite DM’ing. x.com/yegwave/status/

Hmmm I wonder who could possibly be behind this type of language placed at the top of the launch. More boots on the ground and “safety” language. I don’t know why the downtown elite doesn’t just say what they mean. Do you want Indigenous People downtown? #yeg @_TimCartmell

139 years ago, Métis icon Louis Riel was unjustly executed by Canada for treason. Today, we celebrate his legacy as a visionary leader who fought for Métis rights and way of life.

Yet another incident of police violence against Indigenous in Canada. Monday morning twin brothers Joshua and Garrett Papigatuk were shot by Nunavik Police Service in Salluit, Quebec. They were unarmed. Joshua is dead. Garrett was medivaced out in serious condition. Community members protested in Salluit yesterday denouncing the killings. There is an epidemic of systemic violence via police/RCMP in this country that is largely unchecked.
