The worst political leader at Holyrood used to be Douglas Ross, just for sheer obnoxiousness. Anas Sarwar has wrested that accolade from Ross with his performance, especially this last six months. Demanding his party leader resign 12 weeks out from an election was insane. His 'stroke joke' was evidence of someone lacking basic awareness. His "old friend" boast about Mandelson made him a hostage to fortune for no gain whatsoever. Similarly, he unnecessarily sold himself as a close friend and ally to Starmer when it was obvious the new PM lacked charisma and charm and was easily disliked. Given the advantages Sarwar has enjoyed for four years as BBC Scotland's favoured Unionist and the protection that came with that, he must rank as one of the worst party leaders Holyrood has ever seen.

@ScottishLabour What it proves that Anas Sarwar and Jackie Baillie used the tragedy for political reasons and misled bereaved families. Lowest of the low type of politics and even more so that Sarwar hasn’t apologised. This should be a resigning issue using tragedy for politics.

Condemned by a stroke charity for a disgusting joke. If this was John Swinney it would be all over BBC Scotland and STV News. He'd be the subject of discussions with media commentators with his suitability as FM called into question. But it isn't Swinney. It's Sarwar.

Where are the apologies or questioning of Sarwar and Baillie? The accusations he made using a tragedy to mislead families for political gain is the lowest of the low.
