@ShikhaJainMD @cvspharmacy I responded to a medical code for an adult who was emergently hypertensive and in DKA, once we got him back, he told us that he tried to fill his insulin and BP meds at CVS, and he couldn’t afford them. CVS told him there was nothing they could do to help, he left without them

An extension of the systemic erasure & violation of the trust responsibility @CDC. This $56 Mill. budget request for addressing maternal mortality has no mention of tribal governments - only states. This is NOT #equity. @ajcalac @Tess_abe

@ajcalac As you know my personal relationship with the AMA is rocky at best, but I was very happy to see their statement today!💪🏾

AMA: Affirmative action ruling "undermines the health of our nation." Also has guidance for Native American medical students and physicians. Tribal membership =/= race, "even when restrictions on race-conscious admissions policies are in effect." ama-assn.org/press-center/p…

@vlocarmen The other thing I like to remind myself is that the Supreme Court is not my supreme anything. Sure their decisions affect me, but they certainly don’t represent me or my people.

Reminder: Native Americans & Alaska Natives are not a racial group. We are sovereign Nations. We have treaties. We have a political status distinct from racial status. The rights of Indigenous Peoples are inherent & can still be considered in university admissions.

#SupremeCourt #AffirmativeAction THREAD 1/ Emerged from along day in cath lab with a heavy heart. After US Colleges and universities used race to keep people of color out of college (and locked out of the American dream) for more than 200 years, and half-heartedly attempted

It’s been a year since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Since then, 14 states have banned most abortions, leaving millions of women and girls with nowhere to turn for the care they need.   And yet, there are reasons to hope.  After Roe v. Wade was overturned, voters in Michigan, California, and Vermont helped enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions. And governors in states like Nevada, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania have signed executive orders to protect abortion access.
