Adeerayaal Edooyin Waa ina is cadaysan?! Amusnaantiinu waa khiyaamo Awdal ?! @ProfAbdiSamatar @MPDrAbib @AyubIsmailYusuf @ElmiNur4 @DrBulaale The reason Somalia’s envoy to the UN Security Council referenced a border location only in Awdal with Djibouti, and not the rest of Somaliland (the central and northeastern regions, which also border Ethiopia), is deliberate. This signals a potential operation from the Djibouti side, where willingness and preliminary arrangements reportedly exist. In contrast, #Ethiopia is not willing to be involved in any operation against #Somaliland, which explains why borders with Ethiopia were not mentioned. This posture aligns with recent security agreements involving #Djibouti, #Somalia, #Turkey, and #Egypt, all of whom have had prior cooperation frameworks. These agreements were reportedly reaffirmed and finalized again within a two-month period, in June and July 2025. During his regional visits after #Israel recognised Somaliland, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud explored options for a joint military operation focused on Awdal. But disagreements emerged over the nature of the plan whether it would involve Djibouti full integration and annexing Awdal or establishing an administration under Somalia through a military operation involving those states. These proposals were ultimately rejected by Egypt, which is not prepared for a direct confrontation near Ethiopia’s border, and by Turkey, which currently sees no strategic value in such an operation. Despite these rejections, the risk has not entirely disappeared from Djibouti and Somalia . This explains why Somalia’s representative @AbukarOsman1 attempted to frame Awdal at the Security Council as an area “aligned with Djibouti,” implying readiness for coordinated action with Somalia.

According to the filing, Sarı’s posts included fabricated claims about a Somali diplomat’s family ties and political positions regarding Somaliland. The Embassy states that even after a formal legal notice on February 12, no apology or correction was issued. Read more: radiodalsan.com/world-news/302…
