I have listen to Hassan Sheikh tonight and he flat out say we will attack if Israel comes to Somaliland. He is in fact clearly showing why Somaliland has to make new partnership with Israel to protect its sovereignty. The reason Somaliland signed partnership with Israel is to get the capacity to get weapons (Missiles) that can reach to Mogadishu, without a doubt when we get such a capacity we will not hesitate to hit Vila Somalia. Israel and Somaliland people have few similar characteristics; they believe the world is against us and we do too, and they want to kill first and talk later and we do too. Above all else we value the lives of our people tremendously. We never want to lose one single person regardless of the reasons.

Ilhan omar has again said the U.S. will not recognize Somaliland anytime soon drawing criticism from those who argue she’s overstepping by projecting a definitive stance on U.S. foreign policy.

Do you know about the Djibouti–Somalia proposal to Ethiopia, which aimed to persuade Ethiopia not to recognise Somaliland? This proposal is said to have prompted Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ismaïl Omar Guelleh to request two meetings (and a third involving Djibouti) within three months. The proposal allegedly involved withdrawing and rearranging the borders in the Horn of Africa among the three countries. Under this plan: - Djibouti would become a fully Somali country, gaining land from Sitti, Harawo, and Awdal (covering all Issa and Gadabuursi territories). - Ethiopia would receive the Afar regions of Djibouti, giving it access to the sea. - The Hawd, Reserved Area, and Ogaden would be returned to Somaliland, which would then be forced to join Somalia’s military. In their view, everyone would gain something. The proposal reportedly leaked to the media and has been implicitly mentioned by Abubakar Baale at the UN and by Osoble on Facebook. It is also said to be linked to the maps attached to the “Xeet Ciise” submission to UNESCO, which was allegedly approved by Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

Adeerayaal Edooyin Waa ina is cadaysan?! Amusnaantiinu waa khiyaamo Awdal ?! @ProfAbdiSamatar @MPDrAbib @AyubIsmailYusuf @ElmiNur4 @DrBulaale The reason Somalia’s envoy to the UN Security Council referenced a border location only in Awdal with Djibouti, and not the rest of Somaliland (the central and northeastern regions, which also border Ethiopia), is deliberate. This signals a potential operation from the Djibouti side, where willingness and preliminary arrangements reportedly exist. In contrast, #Ethiopia is not willing to be involved in any operation against #Somaliland, which explains why borders with Ethiopia were not mentioned. This posture aligns with recent security agreements involving #Djibouti, #Somalia, #Turkey, and #Egypt, all of whom have had prior cooperation frameworks. These agreements were reportedly reaffirmed and finalized again within a two-month period, in June and July 2025. During his regional visits after #Israel recognised Somaliland, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud explored options for a joint military operation focused on Awdal. But disagreements emerged over the nature of the plan whether it would involve Djibouti full integration and annexing Awdal or establishing an administration under Somalia through a military operation involving those states. These proposals were ultimately rejected by Egypt, which is not prepared for a direct confrontation near Ethiopia’s border, and by Turkey, which currently sees no strategic value in such an operation. Despite these rejections, the risk has not entirely disappeared from Djibouti and Somalia . This explains why Somalia’s representative @AbukarOsman1 attempted to frame Awdal at the Security Council as an area “aligned with Djibouti,” implying readiness for coordinated action with Somalia.

Ethiopia won’t be among the first to recognize #Somaliland. Its internal crises and external pressures make recognition a political risk it cannot afford. We must realize this beyond emotions. Ethiopia is not Israel it lacks the independence to take such bold steps.

𝟏𝟖 𝐌𝐚𝐲: 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭 18 May is not just a national celebration it is Somaliland’s most effective diplomatic instrument. It marks re-independence, but more importantly, it creates a recurring global moment to project legitimacy, performance, and political clarity. Recognition is rarely granted in isolation; it is built on narratives that combine rights, achievements, and strategic value. Somaliland already holds all three: - a justified claim to recognition, - a record of stability and governance, - and growing geopolitical relevance. 18 May consolidates these elements into a single, visible platform. This makes it the “fifth factor” in Somaliland’s recognition strategy. Not just a legal argument, but a diplomatic amplifier a moment to present its case directly to the international community, reinforce its credibility, and shape external perception. The symbolism is sharp and unavoidable. 18 May forces a simple question onto the global stage: should success be recognized, or should failure continue to be accommodated? Somaliland represents functional governance and stability in a fragile region. Ignoring that reality increasingly carries its own political cost. Recent developments show how this platform can translate into outcomes. President Abdirahman Irro’s approach demonstrates that when the moment is used strategically with coordinated messaging and follow-up diplomacy it can extend beyond symbolism into tangible progress, including breakthrough recognitions. This strategy has recently taken a more structured and assertive form. On 17 May 2025,President Abdirahman Irro escalated the moment into direct diplomacy by sending formal communication to 193 countries. This was not symbolic outreach it was a coordinated attempt to engage the entire international system at once. The follow-through matters. In a parliamentary address, the president confirmed that responses had been received. That detail is critical: engagement moved from one-way messaging to active diplomatic exchange. The results are already visible. Israel’s re- recognition on 26 December 2025 did not emerge in isolation it reflects sustained outreach, timing, and strategic use of diplomatic platforms like 18 May. More importantly, it signals momentum. Recognition, once initiated, tends to build. The lesson is clear. 18 May must evolve from commemoration into strategy. Each year should not only celebrate the past but actively convert visibility into diplomatic gains. Recognition is not charity. It is alignment with reality. #Somaliland #18May #55thAfricancountry #Israel #USA
