Today closely profiled with some prolific hail events in our past.
If storms remain isolated, some 4-5” hailstones are not out of the question.

5,000 CAPE expected tonight ahead of storm development in Arkansas. CAPE (storm fuel) values of 5,000+ is extreme. Thunderstorms will have more than enough fuel to mature and organize. Significant risk for large hail and some tornadoes too.

It's not much of Arkansas, but there's a sliver in SW AR that's warm and humid with a severe weather risk.
Any storm along or south of the warm front will have to be watched for hail or a tornado.
Large hail is the main risk, even on the cool side of the boundary in SW AR.
Storms are firing now in Oklahoma and we'll be keeping an eye on them this afternoon and evening!

This beast was overshadowed by the Little Rock tornado, but this was the most intense tornado in the state that day. 4 fatalities occurred in Wynne.

Memorial Day became a moveable holiday in 1971 occurring between May 25th-31st.
It took some time, but I looked at every Memorial Day since 1971 and there’s a chance today is the coldest.
Memorial Day 1992 hit 69° at Little Rock.
As we near 2 PM, it’s only 63° and the high so far occurred after midnight at 67°.
Coldest Memorial Day in my lifetime.
