@CPHatSMU @MSNOWNews I enjoyed talking with Chris Jansing about the remarkable life of the Rev. Jesse Jackson. We focused on his 1984 & 1988 presidential runs and his plea to "keep hope alive." Jackson's bids resonate with my book's focus on the value African Americans attribute to the presidency.

Medgar Evers, who fought in #DDay and was the NAACP field secretary for Mississippi, was assassinated outside of his home hours after JFK's civil rights address in the early morning of June 12, 1963. People wrote to JFK about his speech and their anger at Evers' murder.
