@NeverSinkDev You will not be able to properly evaluate the results of AI if you're not a good dev, that's what I learned over the past years. I had a lot of AI solutions that worked, but wouldn't scale, perform or simplify any existing approach.

Once again, these are MY principles. I'm a solid developer. I want to keep my skills sharp. Even if AI will become a big part of my daily work one day - my capability of giving exact instructions is limited by my sharpness of understanding - the code, the tech, the context, the customer, the use case. If all you're doing is prompting you may end up becoming as sharp as a spoon and the quality of your results will plummet.

I've been getting PMs regarding what I think legit use cases for AI in coding are that don't cause your app to get 'vibe coding feel': First of all: I'm not here to tell you how to manage your project. These are wild times. PERSONALLY: I feel the following are all solid use-cases. Limiting yourself to this list will avoid you losing grasp on your project. - Creating summaries about existing code or helping to understand code you didn't write yourself - Checking existing documentation for consistency - Writing unit tests - Doing mass edits/searches for specific patterns - Scanning code looking for memory leaks and vulnerabilities - Writing boilerplate code - Helping with refactoring - Building prototypes for quick testing - Building UIs/overlays that are ONLY used by you (for debugging, tooling etc) - Building DTO and JSON/CSV export/import interfaces - Writing isolated mini-scripts - Building editor-only tooling for unity and similar environments - Asking for advice on your architecture/coding style - Looking for ways to improve existing code - Regex... Anything that helps with regex is good in my book - Building misc pieces of code that you're SURE will not become central/expanded in the future

So incredibly disappointed and heartbroken that the #Oscars and AMPAS chose not to include my father, David Keighley, and his immeasurable contributions to IMAX and cinema in the In Memoriam segment in the broadcast. I will never forget.

@Indiana_England @CMBAAYYY12 @klobrille It's not worthless, it's just not for you, specifically. Also, it sounds like you want to be forced into having to buy a console through exclusives, which, to me, is a really weird mindset.

Xbox doesn't need exclusives, but they need amazing games and make it clear they are Xbox games, like a seal of quality. I liked the "Xbox Originals" mocks by @klobrille. Make people excited seeing Xbox-branded games, no matter which platform you are on.

Slay the Spire 2 is the best rogue-like game ever made. There, I said it.

Slay the Spire 2 is in many ways like the first one, but more and better. I'm amazed at how well the game introduces all the special effects, many games struggle at that and fail. This is a serious GOTY contender once it is out of Early Access.

@klobrille Getting people over to Xbox via exclusives would be such a massive undertaking that it would most likely take 15-20 years and they'd have to deliver consistently high quality products. The times have passed for this kind of strategy, sorry.

Xbox could build the best console in the world, at the most competitive price available; the trajectory of the Xbox ecosystem won't change for the better if you don't start to rebuild your brand identity by offering experiences & games you have only on Xbox (Console, Cloud, PC).
Parris@vicious696

"We will meet players where they are, and build experiences that are instant and seamless and accessible" That says to me it might start with console but the multiplatform strategy isn't changing and they want their games available where you want to play Good stuff Jez

@DestinLegarie Well, I guess I won't be playing any Sony first-party exclusives, then. Won't buy a console just for exclusives, that's dumb.

I’ll say the unpopular take… I do not love the idea of games being exclusively available on a single device forever I’m fine with a one year window, but being locked on less powerful hardware forever kind of stinks.
Knoebel@Knoebelbroet

Jason Schreier and John Linneman speculated about Sony backing away from putting Singleplayer games on PC. Schreier later said it's not speculation and he has more on that soon. #post-151851202" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">resetera.com/threads/jason-…

Yeah this is the part of the whole Xbox shutting down thing that makes no sense to me. Like... Activision closed in late 2023. 3 years later they close up shop? Doesn't make sense imo.

@DestinLegarie Buys half the gaming industry. Does nothing. Shuts down Xbox? Huh?
