@sage_stage Agree, but the teacher not writing the lessons, needs to read through and annotate, adjust, and edit to fit his/her classroom.

Thrilled to announce that I am now a math instructor at Arizona State University! Go Sun Devils! I didn't get a job here or anything. I'm just a math instructor physically on their campus.

We are doing school a little differently this year. Our teachers & kids start in July instead of Aug., but they can get an extended break in Oct. & Mar. It’s very weird having back to school admin meetings in June, but I am already excited to see what the new year brings at TCSD!

Jason Kennedy | Stop Teaching & Design Learning!
Instead of asking, "What am I going to teach today?" & "What work will I have my students do?" TRY "What learning do I want kids to experience today?" & "How will they show themselves and me that they've learned it?" The jobs always been about learning anyway. Not teaching.

@FixingEducation Hmm…why does it fold up? It isn’t like you can put anything in that space to be able to quickly open it up in time of emergency…

@pwharris I used what I know about a clock to help me solve this. I visualized what 5/6 and 1/4 in minutes…50 min - 15 min = 35 min. 35 min is equivalent to 35/60 which I know is 7/12 of an hour because I can visualize it using the image of a clock face (i.e. the 7 on the face = 35 min).

@pwharris 5/6 of an hour is represented by 10 on a 12 hr clock. 1/4 of an hour is 3 numbers on that same clock. 10-3 is 7 so 7/12.

@natabasso Yes, yes, yes! Allowing students to take ownership of their learning is so impactful! So, what do you do when you have a kid that definitely needs more help, but refuses to admit it time and time again.

Rather than grading homework, invite students to self-assess on three criteria: 1. I need more challenge. 2. I need more practice. 3. I need help. Start class in differentiated groups around these needs.

@ScottRRocco A1: Effective performance for teachers & admin looks differently for both positions. Teachers - students are learning the standards and there’s evidence from that. Admin - their teachers are growing—becoming better educators and are happy, for the most part. #satchat

@ScottRRocco A2: I’m a curr. specialist, which translates to coach at times. I attend PD and incorporate strategies that I’ve learned that have proven effective. Listening to my teachers and trying to meet their needs helps me improve. Using feedback/evaluation forms helps! #satchat
