Today, I debated against SB2, the wind turbine setback bill. The language and setback distances we sent the Senate a year ago at the end of last session were mostly okay, with the key ingredient of allowing counties the ability to have a voice in defining the setback distances that are best for them. However, the Senate just fed us a garbage bill that not only reduced the setback distances we originally proposed, but also completely eliminated the county option/local control component. This bill is exactly what the wind industry wanted, which would have statutorily codified the ability for them to keep doing what they’re already doing - putting 700’ industrial machines too close to other properties and homes. The Senate passed the bill with 31 Ayes to 16 Nays, however, the House killed the bill with 20 Ayes to 67 Nays (pictures of the chamber votes in comments.) I want to thank my House colleagues who voted NO on this bill. We will be back next year to get what the People want, and stop this perpetual rolling-over for the wind industry. #okleg

Today, a narrow majority of Republican State Reps spit in the faces of decent Oklahomans and voted to legalize the composting and commodification of human bodies in Oklahoma. Here’s my debate against. If your Rep voted for this, it might be worth keeping in mind in the upcoming primary season. “If we start blurring the lines between dignity and utility, you do it first in death, then eventually you start doing it in life. Every regime that has treated human beings as raw material, whether it was for labor or experimentation or disposal, began that same quiet shift into darkness. A person becomes secondary, the system becomes primary.” - Glenn Beck on HB3660 being heard in the state of Oklahoma #okleg

🚨GRASSROOTS VICTORY🎉 @GovStitt saw the human composting bill (HB 3660) for what it is, an attack on human dignity. I’m grateful for his veto, and stand ready to vote against any attempt to override. Thank you to the many grassroots voters who stood together to fight this bill. Thank you to all of the conservative outlets who spread the word about this insanity. I wish it hadn’t gotten this far, but it is stopped for now!

A measure that would give Oklahoma families an additional end-of-life option while ensuring the process is governed by strong commonsense safeguards is now headed to the governor's desk for final approval. Read More: okhouse.gov/posts/news-202… #okleg

So, this was my day today… Today the House advanced HB3660, a bill to legalize the use of composted human bodies as fertilizer. If this bill is put into law, Oklahoma joins 14 BLUE states that have legalized this process. So, instead of outlawing this type of practice outright, we’re on track to take the use of humanure as fertilizer another disgusting step forward. 🤢
