It bothers U Then it hurts U U try to overcome it U realise things r beyond ur control U feel terrible It worsens U become numb U feel depressed&broken U think it's end of the world It takes time & one day you'll be out of it & you'll not remember how exactly it felt #StayStrong

With so much happening around you, what's happening within you gets silenced and you become okay with things that you ain't okay with. Not sure if that's the power to let go or accept the differences or just a sign of being meekly submissive.

@Shef0121 @PhDVoice @PhD_Genie Research doesn't teach you how to see in the dark, it teaches how to fly blind. As such, mistakes and failures are the norm not the exception. Crash gracefully and thoughtfully. Also, never compare your progress to others. Progress is nonlinear and full of stalls and bursts 🤗👍

How do you face/overcome your fears (of doing experiments, trying something new, getting over a failed experiment or generally anything) when you know it's tough and you think you can't do it? @PhDVoice @PhD_Genie

@Shef0121 Yes it does, absolutely! But as far as I've come, it is only patience and perseverance that got me here. The more you exercise, the more of it u hv. Having said that, we should know our limits. Don't burn out. Take breaks. Keep the bigger picture of life in mind.

@Shef0121 @PhDVoice @PhD_Genie It is not easy to try something new. Plan, read, re-read, analyse, and then try. Read it somewhere Japanese spend 80% of time in planning and they plan effectively so that they execute the task in 20% of time. importantly try to break them into tiny steps . 1 step at a time.

@Shef0121 It does. It doesn't make that imposter syndrome to magically go away. However, it keeps you moving forward until you're comfortable in your beginner's knowledge to ask for help. When you open up, you find out most feel the same when starting. Good luck!

@Shef0121 More like pragmatic... Also, it's really four different projects (all requiring Western blotting) so when one of them gets frustrating, I might make some progress on the other three.

@Shef0121 @PhDVoice @PhD_Genie I do it anyway. Six years on, hundreds of Western blots, and I still shake in my boots when I go to imaging, dreading the results. 90% of the time it doesn't work, but the rare few times that it does makes it all worth it.

@Shef0121 @PhDVoice @PhD_Genie I remind myself that I cleared a national competitive exam to b here & did many difficult things since I came into PhD. So I can do it *once* more. Then, think about just the immediate next step, nothing more, and do it. That usually gets me working. (Unless fear is crippling)
