Small noncoding RNA TY2 enhances efferocytosis and improves outcomes in a mouse model of sepsis by @AleCiulloPhD, @Marbanlab, @TheIbrahimlab & team @CedarsSinai.
The image shows exposure to TY2 increases E. coli clearance by bone-marrow derived macrophages as indicated by fluorophore as a reporter of efferocytosis (green).

Today at the @CedarsSinai @RareDiseases day, @MarbanLab and @rrogerslab elegantly outline the drug discovery potential of mining therapeutic extracellular vesicles for novel RNAs. What would later be called the "CREDO" paradigm has been @MarbanLab's vision for nearly two decades and what a privilege to see it materialize!

Kiel's achievements in regenerative medicine will be lasting. His contributions to advancing cell therapy in industry and his discoveries in the @MarbanLab and mine helped lay the groundwork for the development of a new class of RNA drugs.
But above all else, Kiel was my friend. This is perhaps the greatest impact of all and the most painful to part with.

Devastated to learn of the untimely death of Kiel Peck, who did his 2022 PhD @CedarsSinai with @TheIbrahimLab and me. Kiel was a kind, gentle soul, supremely competent, universally loved. All of us who were fortunate to know him are devastated at the loss.
