TAJ MAHAL @PreaknessStakes @BTRracingstable Eight-length victory in the Federico Tesio, earning a solid 91 Beyer. It was impressive watching him break from the outside 10 hole, clear the field, open up by 10, and then kick on again by 8 lengths when the others came to him. @SheldonRussell1 had him wrapped up at the wire. A lot to like about this colt: his family, his physical, Nyquist… Bob and Donato picked him out at the September sale, he wintered with Eddie Woods in Ocala, then in June shipped to Los Alamitos as a 2-year-old. California just never clicked for him — he was working fine but not really progressing. After a good talk with the team we decided to send him to Brittany Russell at Laurel for a change of scenery. Three months of jogging and galloping around there and he finally switched on. A clean bone scan confirmed nothing physical was holding him back — he just needed to build his confidence. And here we are. He hasn’t looked back. Proud of this horse and this whole journey. Thrilled he’s heading to the Preakness!
