This is highly irresponsible of Atanu Chakraborty. You can’t make allegations and when push comes to shove, backtrack. The words used in the resignation letter and stated here are entirely different. If he truly didn’t have ethical concerns or of wrongdoing, then RBI and SEBI need to take him to task and ensure he never serves on a board again. This is then a tantrum, a significant breach of fiduciary duty, which has been paid for by shareholders.

@CISFHQrs @airindia @MoCA_India there need to be proper rules against airline ground staff breaking security ques, when escorting passengers and not handing emergencies. This morning at 845-850 am at Mumbai’s terminal 2 - business class security check, an @airindia ground staff cut the que, and physically held back trays to shove his in. The passenger / group he was escorting - stood in line, but this fellow wanted to be more loyal than the king. When questioned he didn’t budge and said “movement ho raha hai” and sadly the @CISFHQrs constables allowed him to do so without protest. This ridiculous conduct to appease must be stopped, especially when ministers of the government are often seen standing in line. If this was cockpit crew or someone about to miss their flight, one would totally empathise and help; but this quasi VIP culture is hubris and unacceptable. Either the airline follows protocol and asks the passengers to submit clearance from security check as per ministry / DGCA norms, or ensure its staff acts more professionally. If someone needs to be taught to respect a que, @airindia has a tall training order before it.

Last month, an Allahabad HC judge Justice Pankaj Bhatia got severely criticized by the SC for granting bail in a dowry death case. The SC described his order in favor of the accused as “shocking and disappointing.” After the SC’s remarks, Justice Bhatia asked to be removed from hearing dowry death cases. Now, an @IndianExpress investigation reveals that between Oct–Dec 2025, he heard *510 dowry death bail pleas and granted bail in 508 — nearly all*, with many orders similar in structure and wording. indianexpress.com/article/expres…

International law was still born. Never got off to a start and for the longest time we made our peace with its selective application, with the idealism torch being carried by developing nations. We should stop romanticising the greatest failure of the global order, a failure which has also been a belligerent in every post world war 2 conflict.
Vali Nasr@vali_nasr

Wit and wisdom from the eminent historian Margaret Macmillan on the Iran war and collapse of international law: The Trump administration has offered up a rich selection of reasons for waging war on Iran in partnership with Israel. Forty-seven years of Iranian-backed terrorism, freedom for the Iranian people, regime change, the destruction, again, of Iran’s nuclear weapons capability, or the president’s feeling that the Iranians were about to attack. Who knows? Perhaps fortune tellers were consulted too.  Apart from a claim that Iran was an “imminent threat”, which so far hasn’t been substantiated, what hasn’t had much mention is the legal basis for the US and Israel’s actions. Nor have the laws of war, which the US has played such a part in framing. “We live in a world, in the real world,” Stephen Miller, the eminence grise of the White House, told the New York Times in January, “that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power.” His master, Donald Trump, says the only limits on his power are “my own morality” and “my own mind”. In his frenetic exhortations to the American military as it attacks Iran, Pete Hegseth, the defence secretary, assures them that he is getting rid of “the stupid rules of engagement” ft.com/content/aca775… via @ft

There is no republic and no constitution, if magistrates don’t hold the state to account on matters of liberty. The majesty of courts, the respect, the exalted status is to do justice, not to look over at which side the executive breeze is blowing. Every judge who heard this case and played with procedure, will have their day of reckoning for cases like this and many others. Not everyday will chapters be deleted from text books.

Frankly, despicable that a journalist from a leading Indian media organisation is even posing such a question. Not that Indian Muslims need to dignify it with an answer.

I really don't get it. Many liberal friends are egging for India to officially "take a stand". Take a stand for what? With whom? And why?? Diplomacy is only about preserving self-interest. We are good with everyone, and that's good enough. Only two countries have taken clear pro-Iran stand : Russia and China. We trust Russia regardless of what happens anywhere, and we don't trust China regardless of what happens anywhere. So take the morality part out because nobody, repeat nobody supports us on moral grounds when we are in crisis.

Never leave your loved one alone in the hospital. Every hour you are allowed to be there, if you are able to, I highly recommend being there. Be perfectly cordial with staff. But watch over everything like a hawk. Trust me on this.
