Riot Takes Action on LoL's Quick Match Mode, Slim Chance of Blind Pick Returning 🚨 In the recent update 13.22 of League of Legends (LoL), Riot Games unexpectedly replaced the Blind Pick mode with Quick Match. Essentially, this change eliminated the phase where players selected their team composition, allowing them to pre-select their positions, preferred champions, and rune setups. The goal was to enhance the real-time experience of LoL for players. However, after its introduction, Quick Match revealed several issues. Firstly, the queue time for matches was longer compared to Blind Pick, mainly due to a lower number of players choosing the Support role. Additionally, Quick Match's matchmaking system struggled, often placing 2-3 Jungle players in the same match. Riot seemed determined to entirely replace Blind Pick with Quick Match in LoL. Issues with Quick Match and Riot's Response The extended queue times and matchmaking problems, specifically with Jungle players, prompted dissatisfaction among the LoL community, especially those transitioning from the Asian to European servers. Many expressed their disapproval of Quick Match, hoping for the return of Blind Pick. Despite this, Riot opted to upgrade Quick Match in the future rather than revert to Blind Pick. This decision indicates Riot's commitment to the development of Quick Match, leaving little room for the return of Blind Pick. In response to the community's feedback, Riot Pupulasers stated, "Hello everyone, we agree with the feedback and are working to upgrade Quick Match in the upcoming 2024 season. The upgrades will focus on balancing matchmaking and the interface of the Quick Match mode. We hope you will continue to provide useful feedback to us in the future." With Riot's assurances, players can anticipate a Quick Match with fewer disruptive elements and improved balance in the future. If successful in balancing positions and upgrading the matchmaking system, Quick Match has the potential to become a highly engaging game mode. Otherwise, Riot may face demands to bring back Blind Pick in the future.
