What does development mean for each? Who are included within the development discourse? What changes take place in terms of governance and ownership of resources, as a port-city is formed? These are some of the crucial questions that we attempt to address in this article.

I recently saw a post on a social media platform where a researcher who taught politics, at a well-known institute, shed their treasured glimpses and experiences in a city. While to read about the experience was interesting, I noticed that these imageries are largely associated with migrant labourers and working class population. And this has been defined as an “enduring spirit of youthfulness”. Yes the image of the working class, struggling to somehow survive without being able to, or afford to fall sick or die, is indeed a delightful aesthetic composition.

Onam is celebrated as a festival of prosperity and unity, according to Google and popular media. For me, however, Onam has been much more than that. It's when the entire immediate family flocks to one place: the ancestral home. I've always seen my mother, aunts, female cousins, and me work from early morning until the afternoon to wait on the men, who eat lunch first. Only then do we serve ourselves food. Of course, the men celebrate Onam on the porch of the house. After lunch, we get to cleaning all the vessels and the kitchen. Once the work is done, it's time for tea and snacks. After tea, the cycle repeats: we cook, serve, and clean again. #OnamVibes

You've heard about Gujaratis, Keralites, etc. across the world, but how are they spread across India itself? The word 'videsi' after all is also used among internal migrants. 📢My new paper provides estimates on these different 'linguistic diasporas' of India (1/5)

People's Plan (Kerala) & GFA (Northern Ireland) ushered a new developmental path for these regions in the '90s. @JohnDoyleDCU and I compare these cases, looking @ how the question of space is crucial to studying participatory development. @LawGovDCU 🧵sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

So my question to the concerned civil servant is, how do you plan on addressing these concerns. Does public hearing mean to the state a mere participation of the stakeholders or do you think you are accountable to address them as well? instagram.com/p/C8ZiFf0s6Jj/…
