@ProgDirectorate Assam has 60%+ Hindus voting for the BJP routinely. This was replicated in Bengal. Hindus are not as polarised in UP or Gujarat.
Admittedly the Assamese have a longer unbroken history of being completely murderous about ethnic and religious minorities.

This is a good example of how communal the Congress was btw. Chittaranjan Das managed to strike up the Bengal Pact as a settlement between Muslims and Hindus in Bengal. The National Congress overruled it in ways very reminiscent of discourse these days.
