This is what i kept trying to tell my fellow Chelsea fans. You dont separate managers who want their players to run, and those who only do on the ball work. Every manager needs running incorporated to any tactical idea. Some will demand more, some a bit less, but especially in modern football, pressing and oop structure is what makes a team. You can have insane team on the ball, but if they dont do enought oop, you will be in world of hurt, even against smaller teams. This is why PSG of Mbappe, Neymar & Messi didnt do nothing, and now they win 2 UCL'S like its nothing. Balance will always be key. Enrique is elite manager for possession based teams, and still, he wants to suffocate you as soon as you try to play out. Every manager ideally wants physically & mentally fit squad, and all of them will demand running and sacrificing for the team. So there is no need to separate managers like Iraola, Nagelsmann, Xabi, Klopp etc. They all need willing runners at the core of their ideas. Its just that additional tactical ideas & man management that separate good ones from elite ones. So, we need to stop crying if manager demands running and application on the pitch because it will injure some players. That's not managers fault. Cos that same player, if you go easy on him, will get reality check as soon as he plays on the weekend in PL that demands intensity. Thats why so many players struggle to adapt to needs of this league when they first join. Hope this helps 🤝
